The Birmingham APICS Chapter sponsored a new APICS student chapter at the University of Alabama in the fall of 2007 with the help of board members Bill Petty and Chuck Sox and the university's Operations Management Program.  The new chapter membership drive was very successful and recruited 50 new student members.  By partnering with the related student organizations that already existed, the Society of Operations Management Students and the Alabama Automotive Manufacturing Students, the new APICS student chapter held several educational meetings with industry speakers.  The Birmingham Chapter will sponsor one of the students to attend the national APICS meeting this fall.
