The Rail Renaissance and
Capacity Planning
Participants will learn about recent
developments in the railroad industry as well as capacity
planning analysis for rail operations. The presenters will provide
an overview of Norfolk Southern and the analytical tools they
use for forecasting demand and planning operations
capacity.
Pete
Murgas - BS in civil engineering from N.C. State
University, MBA from Mercer University - started railroad
career as a management trainee on Norfolk and Western Railway
in 1976 - extensive field and staff experience in the
Engineering and Transportation Departments, currently
assistant director industrial engineering.
Ingrid
Schafrick - Bachelors and Masters in industrial
engineering from Lehigh University, started railroad career in
2004 as industrial engineer, currently senior industrial
engineer focusing primarily on mainline capacity
analysis. Ingrid has prior experience with IBM, Lutron
Electronics, Masque Sound and Recording Corporation, and
Standard and Poor's Corporate Value Consulting. Ingrid
became a licensed professional engineer in 2007!
