On September 19, 2006ast night we had the first meeting
here in room 320 to launch the collaboration between UAB and
the local APICS chapter. The meeting was hosted by
Bruce Nichols UAB's Executive Education director. The
objective is for UAB to host APICS certification (CPIM and
CSCP) courses in collaboration with the local APICS
chapter. There is a lot of local interest in the new
APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) course.
In attendance were members of the local APICS chapter and
managers from several companies including, Wal-Mart
logistics, Mercedes-Benz planning and scheduling,
Mercedes-Benz logistics, US Pipe operations planning, Royal
Cup logistics and transportation; Morris Consulting &
Training, SPI-SPM consulting, the Keith group consulting, ZF
industries, Alabama Technology Network, ONeil
Steel, Baptist Hospital inventory management, and
several IT and ERP consultants.

APICS-BAMA and UAB Education Alliance
Our September PDM
is dedicated to the kickoff of an alliance between APICS and
UAB to provide CPIM and CSCP certification classes.Our speaker is
Bruce Nichols, Director of Executive Education at UAB. Bruce will share
with us the programs and capabilities UAB has for executive
education as well as how their outreach efforts to the
business community is identifying the education requirements
companies need to compete and continuously improve. The
Alabama business community, APICS and UAB benefit from this
joint effort by sharing resources and delivering highly
effective education opportunities.
Our meeting will
be in room 320, on the third floor, 1150 10th
Avenue South, School of Business.Sign in begins at
5:30 pm with dinner being served at 6:00.We should finish by
7:15.Parking
will be free in the lot immediately adjacent to the building
on a first come, first served basis.We look forward to

Bruce
Nichols recently joined the staff of the School of Business
at UAB as Director of Executive Education.
Bruce spent more than 26 years at Southern Company primarily
in training and education to include the corporate
university. Bruce has facilitated leadership and management
development seminars, served as manager over several
training functions, and he has provided training and human
resources consulting to clients at Southern Company as well
as business and industry since retiring from Southern
Company. Bruce?s understanding of business and industry and
his expertise in training and education coupled with the
faculty at the School
of Business provides the community with an opportunity to
obtain outstanding training and education services.
